WHY MASSAGE?

An Ancient Science

The word massage comes from the Greek word 'Massein', meaning 'to knead', and/or the Arabic word 'mas'h' meaning 'to press softly'. Massage is the oldest form of physical medicine known to man and it was first recorded in early Chinese medical manuscripts around 400BC.

Today, massage therapy is one of the fastest growing forces in the field of health care.

How does it work ?

Massage Therapy involves the manipulation of soft tissues in your body - the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It works through the various body systems in one of two ways:

1.A mechanical action- This is created by using pressure and stretching movements to manipulate muscles and soft tissues of your body, thereby cleansing you of  acids and deposits. As a result, fibrous tissue is broken up and and stiff joints are loosened.

2. A reflex action - This is created when treatment of one part of your body impacts another part of your body.
